Default armor and skids for TJ

I have a 98' TJ that I would like to get protected underneath before heading back to Crozet . I'm looking for gas tank skid, oil pan, steering box and what ever else comes to mind. Thanks, Chris 434-825-7147

Hey MAD MATT

More so looking for some used or purchased not-used skids/guards. I'm pretty savy with a welder and tools so installation isn't an issue. I've blown my was early on building this thing to where I can at least begin wheeling it but I still have to get to work on Mondays if you know what I mean. Crozet isn't condusive for daily drivers with-out armor  I did pick up a steering box skid and getting ready to purcase the SYE B.S. to do a TT but other than that It's on OME's, highlined, 44 rear with 33 MTR's.

Thoughts?

Thanks for the reply

You want an engine skid at a minimum... I know of 3 TJ's that have had oil pans damaged and I'm sure Chris can attest to it more than me. On mine I flattened the drain plug out, on Debbie's she smashed the pan pretty good and one other one punched a pretty good hole in the oil pan. A tummy tucker would be nice but I believe most of those require a 1" body lift to clear drive line components. Gas tanks skid is nice but not really required on a TJ because there's already a skid on it. And with a plastic fuel tank you're unlikely (not impossible) to damage the tank. I would probably look at some armor for your front diff also. I'd start with the steering box, front differential, engine, rock rails, belly, and finally gas tank in that order if I was or when I do it again. There's plenty of options out there just be careful because I've seen a few here recently that are mounting the engine skid to the motor and then to the belly pan... Not good for motor mounts. Here's a few options I've pulled really quickly off then net.
